The Qualities of a God-Asker

First 100 Days Ep 11 – The Qualities of a God-Asker w/ Micah May
bywith Aaron J. Babyar

Spiritually healthy, vision-driven, and fully funded. You’ve heard these words numerous times, but what do they mean? What do they look like as qualities of a God-Asker?

Article11

Examine yourself for these qualities

For most of us, the season of support raising is a whirlwind of prayer, lists, calls, appointments, accountability meetings…repeat…repeat…repeat because we want to get to that goal!

But let’s remember Proverbs 3:3-4 ESV: “Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.”

Pause to remind yourself of the qualities of a God-Asker to reset your bearings and stay on course. In baseball, if you consistently get a hit two out of three times at the plate, you are on your way to the Hall of Fame. But in support raising, you are destined for failure if you are only seeking to be just two out of three of the following:

Spiritually Healthy

Everything else in your life will be impacted by your spiritual health in one way or another. Don’t let the busyness of a support raising schedule choke out necessary time connecting with Christ and His body.

Vision-Driven

The perspective that guides every action you take to accomplish the vision God has given you is the next most important element. What do you need to thrive, not just get by? The vision-driven viewpoint prevents the temptation to be budget-driven, doing things cheaply instead of in the most effective way to carry out your vision. It also dismisses temptations of unnecessary excess that may distract from the goal.

Fully Funded

Your spiritual health and vision-driven mentality will keep you on track to becoming fully funded. This will allow you to maximize the impact and fruitfulness of both your family and your ministry life. This is where you not only want to be, but want to stay!

This Week’s Self-Improvement Challenge

Remember the Sabbath. Are you always getting a full day that is set apart for worship, recovery, and rest? Or are you trying to squeeze that into Sunday along with church related gatherings and phone calls to set up appointments for the next week? Having a day off (even if it’s not on the weekend) will significantly help you be more than just spiritually healthy, but also sharper for the challenges of raising support. Your body, mind, and soul need that short break from the grind of life and support raising. Keep your focus on Him, and remember you are a beautiful part of His creation!
